“Every interaction is on a level playing field and I encourage
my patients to ask questions.
We are all human beings. Patients bring in their problems and issues and through a mutual desire for resolution called a therapeutic alliance, we work together to formulate a management strategy or a solution for the presenting complaint”

I graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1980 and from Mount Sinai School of Medicine in 1985. I completed my Internal Medicine residency in 1988 at Beth Israel Medical Center and was board certified in 1989. Since that time I have been in private practice in New York City.
My academic affiliation is with Mount Sinai Health System and I am part of the teaching faculty of the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. (http://www.mountsinaihealth.org/)

When You Visit
The office is a peaceful and quiet place where more often than not you will be greeted at the door by my dogs henry and cora. You will then check in with Dorothy Stiso my good friend and office manager who works diligently to make the practice run as smoothly and efficiently as possible.
Next
I will bring you in to my consultation room where we will sit and discuss the reason for your visit.
Complete Physicals
I will begin by taking a thorough history including:
• significant past medical and surgical histories
• habits and sexual histories
• family history extending from grandparents to children
• vaccination history
• current medical concerns and illness prevention and screening
after gathering this information we will move to the exam room and i will perform a comprehensive physical exam. Once this is accomplished we will return to the consultation room to further discuss any concerns that you have or any findings that have been discovered and together we will generate a workable treatment plan.
A face to face follow-up visit to review your lab results in person is then scheduled, usually about a week after your visit.
these results typically include:
• Cholestrol panel
• Liver and Kidney function
• Thyroid function
• Lyme disease screen
• Complete blood count
• CA125 as a screen for ovarian cancer in women who are over 30
•PSA as a screen for prostate cancer in men who are over 40
A thorough history of presenting complaints and relevant past medical history is taken in the consultation room. Following this a directed exam is performed. We then return to the consultation room where together we will formulate a workable plan for how we will address the presenting health issue and set in motion.

Travel Immunization
I am particularly interested in thorough preparation for foreign travel because I believe no one should become ill because of a desire to see the world.
I follow the recommendations of the Center for Disease Control (CDC) in Atlanta (http://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel) and keep all travel vaccinations in the office at all times, including Yellow Fever vaccine for which I am a certified provider.
When you come in for travel preparation all relevant past medical and vaccination history is taken, a personal instruction sheet and prescriptions are generated, and any recommended vaccinations are given.
